The ship
Introduced in 2021, the HANSEATIC spirit is around 15,650 GT and measures about 453 feet in length and 72 feet in width. Built by VARD, she was designed for expedition cruising with PC6 ice class and relies on a fleet of Zodiacs (often listed as 17) as well as a deployable aft marina to facilitate landings and returns. As on the other ships in the series, the deck architecture emphasizes visibility and observation (elevated lounges, panoramic spaces, and outdoor circulation designed for viewing the sea and coastlines).
Dining, bars, and onboard atmosphere
On board, freedom is the key word, with service that has no fixed dining times in order to adapt to the rhythm of expedition days. The culinary offering is built around the Hanseatic restaurant (à la carte dining), the Lido (gourmet buffets and outdoor grill), and Hamptons, a specialty venue dedicated to North Atlantic flavors. This variety allows for different moods, from a chic dinner to a relaxed meal facing the sea.
Moments of relaxation are shared between the Observation Lounge, appreciated for its calm and 180° panoramic view, and the HanseAtrium, the central bar where passengers gather after Zodiac outings. By removing the constraints of assigned tables, the line ensures a smooth experience in which the prestige of the amenities blends perfectly with the spirit of adventure and the convivial atmosphere typical of small expedition ships.
Suites, comfort, and service
The HANSEATIC spirit offers around 120 outside cabins/suites. Standard categories typically range from 226 to 291 sq. ft. depending on configuration (panoramic cabins, French balcony, balcony), with amenities designed for expedition use: rain shower, heated bathroom wall (practical for clothing/towels), included minibar, coffee machine, and binoculars. Higher suite categories add clearly more generous space and more defined separation between areas, following a logic of discreet, very comfortable luxury.
Wellness, leisure, and onboard atmosphere
The ship features a spa, a fitness area, and an outdoor pool. The overall atmosphere is strongly oriented toward observation and relaxation, with indoor and outdoor spaces planned for enjoying the scenery (especially from elevated panoramic lounges).
Itineraries and travel style
The HANSEATIC spirit is designed for expedition travel in the broad sense: polar itineraries (Arctic cruises and Antarctica cruises), with adjustable capacity in certain regions (often indicated at around 199 on specific expeditions). The compact format, Zodiacs, and deployable aft marina provide real operational flexibility while preserving an upscale onboard experience (comfort, dining, wellness).
