Built by Italian shipyard Fincantieri, Le Boréal has a gross tonnage of 12,063 US tons and measures 466 ft in length and 59 ft in width. These compact dimensions allow it to access ports and waterways that are off-limits to larger ships. It has 6 decks and 132 cabins and suites, accommodating up to 264 guests.
Its 145 crew members provide a crew-to-guest ratio of 1.8, ensuring a premium level of service on par with a 5-star hotel.
Whether in polar, Mediterranean, tropical, or subtropical regions, Le Boréal offers its guests a different way to travel. These off-the-beaten-path expedition cruises are guided by regional experts. In addition to stunning scenery, passengers enjoy in-depth learning from onboard lecturers and naturalist guides who share their insights into the geography, history, and nature of the destinations visited.
Aboard Le Boréal, the cruise is also about relaxation! The spa, hair salon, hammam, fitness center, pool, solarium, leisure lounge, theater, and boutique offer well-being and entertainment throughout the journey.
Le Boréal features two restaurants. Located at the rear of Deck 2, the gourmet restaurant showcases the finest of French culinary tradition along with a selection of international cuisine. The second, found on Deck 6 at the very top of the ship, is a grill restaurant offering high-quality meals in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Passengers will find three bars and lounges onboard. At the rear of Deck 3 is the main lounge, a great spot for a drink and to enjoy dance nights. On Deck 6, the piano bar offers relaxing musical ambiance with panoramic views. The outdoor bar, next to the solarium and pool, serves a wide range of refreshing beverages.
All 132 cabins and suites aboard Le Boréal offer ocean views. Cabins are either 194 or 226 sq. ft., while suites measure 290, 398, or 484 sq. ft.
Each accommodation features individual air conditioning, satellite TV, a minibar, Bose speaker, desk, vanity, safe, satellite phone, and free unlimited Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are equipped with a hairdryer and a full selection of Hermès toiletries.
Sustainable development is at the core of Ponant’s cruising philosophy. From ship design to practices at sea and on land, the company strives to minimize its ecological footprint. Le Boréal uses low-sulfur fuel, is equipped with a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system to reduce sulfur oxide emissions, and features dynamic positioning technology.
